DNA Used to Link Stolen Banknotes

Mid December 2003, a branch was held up at a leading savings bank in Dusseldorf, Germany and 16.800 Euro were stolen.  An activation of the ICI ThinPac was witnessed, but there was no immediate recovery.

Until recently, stained banknotes were recovered by the German police forces.  The notes were sent to CyperMark, TTI, for DNA code identification.  All notes appeared to have the same DNA code.  The code was traced back to the branch in Dusseldorf by the ICI locational database.
